enlightened woman - mujer iluminada

La imagen me gustó por el contraste que tiene. Lo cierto es que tiene bastante contraste resaltando el rostro sobre el negro del fondo. Realmente aunque parezca mentira es el fondo negro lo que mas trabajo lleva. Me gusta empezar con un lapiz duro como el 2H y poco a poco ir oscureciendo con lápices mas blandos hasta acabar con el 6B. Esto lo hago para uniformizar el color. Si directamente dibujara con el 6B iría mas rápido no cubriría tanto el papel notándose el fondo blanco. Además ¿Qué prisa tengo?.
Creo que no ha quedado mal.

I've choosen this image because the contrast it has. Mainly I like highlighting the face on black background. Actually oddly enough is the black background that takes me more work. I like to start with a 2H pencil and gradually darkening with softer pencils until end 6B. I do this for make an uniform color. I can draw directly with the 6B but I'm sure I couldn't cover the white paper background and I'm not hurry.

I like the result.

Changing the main name- cambiando la portada

Quiero cambiar la portada del blog, que ya va siendo hora. He hecho varias pruebas y cualquiera de las que dejo ahí abajo me sirve. Otra opción es ir cambiándola de vez en cuando. Admito sugerencias.


I want to change the top image page of the blog. I've done several tests and all of them are good enough for me. Another option is to go changing it occasionally. I accept suggestions.

woman sitting - mujer sentada

Aquí dejo otro dibujo. No he querido suavizar demasiado las lineas por lo que en algunas zonas se ve claramente el trazado. El dibujo está hecho en papel A3 y la foto de referencia es mía.


Here it is another drawing. I did not soften the lines like in other drawings so in some areas you can see the lines. The drawing is done on A3 paper and the reference picture is mine.

woman sketch - boceto de mujer

Aquí dejo un boceto hecho en un folio y con portaminas. No tiene ningún valor en si, salvo que de cada boceto de este tipo que me gusta tiro cinco a la papelera. Está hecho con muy pocas lineas y casi sin sombras, las suficientes, pero me gusta el resultado.


Here it is a woman sketch done on a paper sheet and mechanical pencil. It has no value for itself, except that every sketch that I like, throw five to the trash. It is made with very few lines and almost no shadows, but enough. Anyway I like the result.

Ages. Edades

Realmente es un solo dibujo hecho en una hoja de A3 (doble folio) pero he pensado que escaneándolos por separado se iba a leer mejor. Me apetecía probar la diferencia de unos ojos con el paso de la edad por lo que me puse a probar. Este es el resultado.

I've made the three pair of eyes is a single A3 page (two pages size) but I thought that would post separately to see them better. I wanted to taste the difference of eyes over the age so I started this drawing. Here is the result.

smile - sonrisa

Me gustó la sonrisa de la modelo así que la dibujé. Lo cierto es que la he retocado varias veces antes de publicarlo porque la sonrisa no me acababa de convencer. Aún le daría algún toquecillo pero prefiero dejarlo como está.


I liked the smile of the model so I drew her. Really I retouched it several times before publishing it because the smile didn't like me. I would redraw some part of it but I prefer to finish it.

face's sketches 01 - Bocetos de caras 01

Uno tiene el vicio de dibujar así que cuando tengo un rato, lo hago. Últimamente me ha dado por probar a dibujar caras tipo comic mientras hablo por teléfono en el trabajo (Mientras hablo por teléfono tengo una mano libre). Tengo unas cuantas así que voy a ir colgándolas. Dejo aquí la primera tanda.

One has the habit of drawing so when I have some time, I do. In the last days I'm drawing comic faces while I'm talking on the phone while at work (I've a free hand when I'm on the phone). I have ten or so, so I'm going to post them. Here it is the first four faces.

Valencia's street - Calle de Valencia

Por fin lo he terminado después de unas cuantas horas de trabajo (unas 35 mas o menos).
Como dije en un post anterior el dibujo es de 70x50 cm (27.6x19.7 inches)y el motivo es una calle del casco antiguo de Valencia, España a partir de una foto que hice hace algunos años.
He puesto el enlace del street view del lugar desde donde hice la foto. Por lo que veo ha cambiado desde entonces pero es perfectamente reconocible.

I finally finished after a few hours (about 35 or so).
As I write in an old post, it's made on a 70x50 cm(27.6x19.7 inches) paper size. The reference is a street in the historical center of Valencia, Spain from a photo I took some years ago.
I put the link from the street view of the place from where I made the photo. I see that has changed since then but it is perfectly recognizable.
