Me gusta postear el proceso de los dibujos. Empece hace unos días y creo que lo voy a seguir haciendo. En este caso he puesto dos estados del dibujo: las primeras líneas para encajar el dibujo antes de empezar a sombrear y un segundo en donde ya voy formando las sombras de la cara y el pelo. El resto del cuerpo le voy dando un tono pero realmente hasta que no acabo la cara no me pongo a trabajar el ello.


I like to post the making of the drawings. I started a few days ago and I think I'll continue doing. In this case I've posted two states of the drawing: the first with the first lines to fit the idea before starting to shade it and a second where I've started to draw shadows of the face and hair. I give a tone to the rest of her body but I don't get to work on it until I finish the face.

Aquí dejo el dibujo terminado. Creo que ha quedado bastante bien. Es una forma diferente de hacer un retrato. He intentado dejar la manta no como una línea sino como con textura, para darle realismo.


Here is the finished drawing. I think it is quite good. It's a different way of doing a portrait. I tried to make the blanket rather than a line but as texture, to give it realism.

A pesar que insisto que no me entusiasma hacer retratos aquí dejo otro. Me gusta como va quedando. El ojo está casi terminado y el resto está planteado aunque ya se ve como va a quedar. Si pincháis en el dibujo para ampliarlo podéis ver todo el rayado que va marcando las sombras. En un par de días lo cuelgo terminado.


Although I insist that I'm not passionated about drawing portraits, here it is another one. I like how it goes. The eye is almost finished and you can see how looks will stay the rest. If you click on the picture to enlarge it you can see all the lines which is marking the shadows. In a couple of days, I'll post it finished.

Estos son unos bocetos para aprender a dibujar manos. Creo que es la parte mas complicada del cuerpo porque es muy fácil que quede mal. Como en los últimos dibujos en donde había manos las he tenido que borrar alguna que otra vez he decidido practicar un poco.
Las he dibujado en una libreta y se nota que el papel es mas satinado que en las hojas de dibujo con las que trabajo normalmente. El lápiz aunque sea blando no se difumina.


Here are some sketches to learn to draw hands. I think it's the most complicated part of the body because it is easy to make them badly. As in the previous drawings where he I drew hands I had to erase them a couple of times I've decided to practice a bit.
I've done them in a notebook and note that the paper is glossier than drawing sheets that I use normally. You can see all lines. I can't do an uniform tone for base.

Aquí dejo un retrato de mi hijo que acabé la semana pasada. Antes me costaba hacer un dibujo varias semanas ahora en tres o cuatro noches con un par de horas por noche estoy terminando los dibujos. Éste, por ejemplo lo he hecho sin ningún tipo de escalado de la foto original, ni regla para medir nada. Está hecho a sentimiento, lo cual significa dos cosas: que esto es un tema de practicar y que se puede hacer y que, en este caso algo ha fallado, sin saber exactamente que es.


Here it is a portrait of my son that I finished last week. In the past this kind of portraits take me several weeks. Now, with a couple of hours during three or four nights I can finish them. This one, for instance I did it without any kind if scale from the original photo, or ruler to measure anything. This means two things: that this is a matter of practice and can be done and that in this case there is something wrong, because it isn't as good as I hoped. Next time.

Dibujo terminado. Siempre se puede contrastar mas pero creo que ya es suficiente. Me interesa resaltar el pelo y el rostro por lo que prefiero dejar el resto del cuerpo con menos contraste.
Voy a unir las tres fases del dibujo en unos solo para que se vea la evolución de una sola mirada. Otro día lo posteo.


Drawing over. I could contrast it more but I think that's enough. I want to highlight the hair and face so I prefer to leave the rest of the body with more soft.

I'm going to fix the three phases of the drawing in a single one to watch the evolution in a single glance. I'll post it another day.

El siguiente paso es hacer la cara y el pelo. Intento hacerlo con lápices duros e ir subiendo poco a poco para dar suavidad a las sombras. El es resto del cuerpo suelo ir mas rápido.

The next step is make the face and hair. I try to do with hard pencils and work up gradually to give softness to the shadows. The rest of the body is usually go faster.

Aquí dejo el dibujo en el que estoy trabajando ahora y que aún no he terminado. Aún le falta darle mas vida a la cara y al pelo antes de seguir con el resto.

Here it is the drawing that I'm working now and I haven't finished. I've to work hard in the face and hair before continuing with the rest.

Tenía pensado postear otro dibujo pero o me equivoco o éste, que tenía en la página de Flirk, nunca lo he colgado del blog. Es un dibujo que hice hace ya bastante tiempo pero ahora, al volver a fijarme en él me sigue pareciendo un buen dibujo. El que tenía preparado para hoy ya lo postearé otro día.

I thought to post another drawing for today but i realized I've never posted this old drawing at the blog. It has been in the flirk page for a long time. It is a drawing I made some years time ago and now, looking at it, I noticed it still seems a good drawing for me. I'll keep the drawing I had to post it the next day.

Aquí dejo un dibujo algo mas sencillo de lo habitual. Un poco de naturaleza muerta para variar. Está hecho con portaminas sobre folio, un algún retoque final con un lapiz 4b para las sombras mas oscuras.

Here it is another drawing with a little less work than usual. In this case I've choosen unanimated reference . It's made with a mechanical pencil on a paper sheet with a final touch with a 4b pencil for the darker shadows.

He acabado el dibujo. Voy a intentar colgar la foto de referencia. Creo que no he acabado de sacarle el encanto de la foto. Las transiciones de color son mucho mas suaves que en dibujo. Este es uno de los motivos por lo que no me gusta especialmente hacer retratos. Prefiero hacer un dibujo que me guste sin tener que estar atado a la búsqueda de la exactitud.

I finished the drawing. I'm going to try to post the reference photo. I think I haven't caught the charm of the portrait. Color transitions are much smoother than in drawing. This is one of the reasons why I do not particularly like doing portraits. I prefer to make a drawing that I like without being tied to the pursuit of accuracy.
